For a girl who doesn’t wear much makeup, I take my skin care very seriously. When I travel for long periods of time and forget certain products at home, I can feel the difference when I touch my face — especially during the colder seasons. Mascara and eyeliner are my weekend go-to’s, but every now and then I’ll dress up my look with lipstick. Usually matte ones. When it comes to skin care, I don’t mind draining my bank account on the top ingredients, imported directly from the amazon. Just kidding, I can’t afford that shit. I’ve tried maaaaany beauty products over the years, but these are my all-time favorites!
Of course LUSH makes it to the top of the list. I LOVE that their products fight animal-testing are hand-made in the US using only natural ingredients. Until Christmas rolls around, I’ll be using their seasonal Halloween collection. Pumpkin, Monster’s Ball, and Secret Arts are all bath bombs. Sparkly Pumpkin and Bewitched are bubble bars, and Gothic Fairy is a shimmer bar that makes your skin look luminescent. I’m a LUSH-aholic, I’ll admit it. No bath is complete without their bath bombs.
Some may say I have too many face masks. My argument to that is each one does something different and fulfills a different need. For example, the St. Ives apricot facial scrub is perfect to use in the morning during your pre-work shower because the exfoliating texture really wakes you up! I think you’re never too young to start fighting wrinkles, which is why I use Petal Fresh Botanicals with aloe and pomegranate. These two ingredients will keep you forever young! My most recent purchase is the Rapid Clear acne mask from Neutrogena. When I’m stressed or on my period, I have the tendency to break out, so this product was much-needed.
And speaking of Neutrogena, their Light Therapy Acne Mask is the GREATEST thing to happen since avocado toast. Maybe it’s not the most fashionable thing to wear, but if it only takes 10 minutes and two tiny red and blue lights to treat acne, I’ll keep it in my beauty regimen forever! Plus, for something so science-y you’d expect to have to pay more.
I don’t always wear lipstick, but when I do, it’s exclusively from LimeCrime. OK, maybe Mac sometimes too. LimeCrime’s nude Matte Velvetine collection is my absolute favorite because you can wear the shades for every occasion — business meetings, the dive bar, even when you want that “I’m not wearing any makeup” look. Dress them down or dress them up. My favorite shades are Beet It, Buffy, Cashmere, and Dream Girl. I also love their Cheap Thrill Diamond Crusher.
A night out to dinner isn’t complete without perfume! I love when a guy wears sexy cologne, so I try to return the favor (when I can remember to spray some on before bolting out the door). My favorite scents are Tiger’s Eye from Adorn (sold at Urban Outfitters) and Light And Soul by Tokyo Milk.
